The 6-foot-2, 230-pound senior throws specialist swept the shot put and discus events at the CIF State Meet this past season and his personal-best effort of 69 feet, 11 inches in the shot ranked No. 3 nationally among boys prep competitors this spring. Madsen earned dual All-American honors in both events at Nike Outdoor Nationals, taking second in the shot and fourth in the discus. His personal-best discus throw of 211-6.5 ranked No. 5 nationally.
Madsen has maintained a 4.13 weighted GPA in the classroom. He has signed a written letter of athletic aid to compete at Brigham Young University this fall.
An Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America, Madsen’s Eagle Project was to rehabilitate the pavilion at the Fresno Discovery Center by giving it a fresh coat of paint and replacing the roof. He has volunteered locally at the Madera Welfare Vineyard and the Poverello House, a homeless shelter. He has also donated his time to multiple community service initiatives through his church youth group.
