The 6-foot-3, 185-pound senior right-handed pitcher and outfielder was named the Perfect Game 17U Pitcher of the Year for his play last summer. In the quarterfinals of the 2019 WWBA 17u Elite Championship last July, Carlson spun five shutout innings, scattering two hits and two walks with 10 strikeouts to send his Canes National into the semis. He also played in the USA Baseball 17U National Team Development Program this past offseason. A Rawlings-Perfect Game 2020 Preseason First Team All-American, Carlson led the Blaze (13-10) to the sectional playoffs in 2019, posting a 3-2 record with a 0.97 ERA and 64 strikeouts while surrendering just 19 hits and 13 walks in 36 innings pitched. He also batted .452 with 15 RBI in his final high school season.
Carlson has maintained a 3.14 GPA in the classroom. He has signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball on scholarship at the University of North Carolina.
Carlson has volunteered locally on behalf of Feed My Starving Children, the Miracle League, Ronald McDonald House Charities and youth baseball programs.
