The 6-foot-5, 250-pound senior tight end and defensive end had 50 receptions for 736 yards and 10 touchdowns this past season, leading Billings West (10-2) to the Class AA state final. Ludwig added five touchdowns and a pair of 2-point conversions on 29 carries. On defense, he recorded 32 tackles, including 13.5 for a loss, 19 quarterback hurries, four sacks and five pass breakups. He also handled punting duties for the Golden Bears. Ranked as the nation's No. 209 recruit by On3/Rivals, he is a three-time All-State selection and a U.S. Navy All-American Bowl invitee.
Ludwig has maintained a 3.83 weighted GPA in the classroom. He has made a verbal commitment to receive athletic aid to play football at the University of Montana next fall.
An active member of his school’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapter, Ludwig participates in a number of off-campus bible study sessions. He is also in the process of launching a nonprofit called #5 Beats for Nicko: Nicko’s Dream, God’s Plan, My Mission in memory of his late younger brother. The vision is to help families with children battling major medical complications.
