The 5-foot-4 senior right-handed pitcher and shortstop had led the Storm to a 21-1 record at the time of her selection. Olson owned a 10-0 mark in the circle with a 0.36 earned run average and 114 strikeouts in 58.1 innings pitched through 22 games. She had allowed 19 hits and walked 14. At the plate, the 2016 First Team All-State selection had posted a .551 batting average with 10 doubles, four home runs, 22 RBI and an .870 slugging percentage.
Olson has maintained a 3.97 GPA in the classroom. She has signed a national letter of intent to play softball on scholarship at the University of Connecticut beginning this fall.
Olson has volunteered locally as a youth softball, soccer and basketball coach, and she has donated her time as part of multiple community-service initiatives through the Chanhassen High National Honor Society. "Marybeth Olson seems to be able to do it all and do it well," said Jim Hanson, head coach of Bloomington Jefferson High. "She can hit, run, play D and has a high-level softball IQ. She competes hard. She never seems to get nervous or let big situations get to her."
