The 5-foot-10 senior midfielder and forward led the Generals to a 22-2 record and the Group AA-A state championship this past season. Lawman scored 34 goals and 19 assists as Winfield won its fourth straight state title, having 3-peated in Group AAA before dropping down a classification last fall. A four-time First Team All-State selection, Lawman was the Group AA-A Player of the Year as a senior. She concluded her prep soccer career with 120 goals and 46 assists.
Lawman has maintained a 3.81 GPA in the classroom. She has signed a national letter of intent to play soccer on scholarship at Marshall University beginning this fall.
A member of the Mu Alpha Theta math honor society, Lawman has volunteered locally at an animal shelter and as a youth soccer coach. "Mary is a great player, team leader and simply a phenomenal athlete," said Marshall Hoff, head coach of Winfield High. "She knows how to get the best out of her teammates."
