The state’s two-time returning Gatorade Runner of the Year, the 5-foot-8 senior won the Class 2A state meet for a third straight time, clocking a 17:58.2 to break the tape 41.1 seconds ahead of her next-closest competitor and lead the Golden Hawks to a third straight first-place finish as a team. Hostetler took third at the Nike Cross Nationals Heartland Regional championships and finished 34th at the NXN Final.
Hostetler, who is home-schooled, has maintained a 4.0 GPA in the classroom. She has signed a National Letter of Intent to run on scholarship at Liberty University (Va.) this fall.
A student leader of her local chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Hostetler works every day on her family’s dairy farm. She has volunteered locally with the Special Olympics and as a youth running coach.
