The 6-foot-1, 176-pound junior swept the 110- and 300-meter hurdles at the Class 6A state meet, clocking a personal-best time in the latter and leading the Lions to a third-place finish as a team. Mixon’s personal best time of 13.78 seconds in the 110 at sectionals ranked as the nation’s No. 12 all-conditions performance among 2021 prep competitors at the time of his selection. His title-winning 300 performance at the state meet (37.23) ranked No. 17 nationally. He also ranked in the nation’s Top 100 in the 400 dash thanks to a 48.20 clocking in March.
Mixon has maintained a B average in the classroom. He will begin his senior year of high school this fall.
Mixon has volunteered and fund-raised locally on behalf of the Atlanta Mission homeless shelter.
