The 5-foot-5 senior distance talent won the 2-mile run at the New Balance Nationals Outdoor this past season. McCormick’s winning time of 9:50.81 set a state record and ranked No. 5 nationally among prep girls competitors this spring. She also took third in the mile at NBNO in 4:37.17, which ranked No. 9 nationally. McCormick broke the tape in the 1500-meter run at the Class A state meet, clocking a 4:17.87, which ranked No. 2 nationally. Her season-best time of 9:27.36 in the 3000-meter run at the Section XI County A Championships ranked No. 6 nationally.
McCormick has maintained an A average in the classroom. She has signed a written letter of athletic aid to compete on scholarship at the University of Florida this fall.
A member of Students Against Destructive Decisions, McCormick was the editor of the Bay Shore yearbook as a senior. She has volunteered locally as a peer math tutor and as a mentor to middle school athletes.
