The 6-foot-2, 210-pound senior left-handed pitcher compiled a 7-0 record on the mound with a 0.86 ERA this past season, leading the Bulldogs to a 19-12 record and the round of 16 in the Class 5A state tournament. Bruns struck out 102 batters while walking just 19 in 49 innings pitched. The 2021 Alabama Sports Writers Association Mr. Baseball winner, he posted a .337 batting average with three home runs, 17 RBI and a .450 on-base percentage.
Bruns has maintained a 3.61 GPA in the classroom. He has signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball on scholarship at Mississippi State University this fall, but is projected as an early-round selection in July’s Major League Baseball draft.
Bruns has volunteered locally on behalf of his school’s Crimson & Grey Day annual fundraiser and as a youth baseball coach.
