The 5-foot-9, 150-pound senior forward scored 36 goals and passed for nine assists this past season, leading the Hawks (19-2) to the Class 3A state quarterfinals. Newhard recorded 13 multi-goal games, including three hat tricks. He set Ankeny’s single-season scoring record in his only season of high school soccer.
Newhard, who is home-schooled, has maintained a 3.33 GPA in the classroom. He has signed a National Letter of Intent to play soccer on scholarship at Grand View University this fall.
Newhard has volunteered locally doing yard work for the elderly, and he has donated his time as a youth soccer coach.
