The 5-foot-10, 145-pound senior raced to the second-fastest time ever on the venerable Woodward Park state meet course this past season and anchored the Panthers to a team title at the Nike Cross Nationals. Young broke the tape at the Clovis Invitational, took second at the Division 1 state meet and crossed the line 11th at Nike nationals last fall. His victory at the USATF U20 Cross Country Championships in January earned him a berth at the 2023 World Athletics Cross Country Championships in Australia on February 18.
Young has maintained a 3.95 GPA in the classroom. He has signed a National Letter of Intent to run on scholarship at Stanford University this fall.
Young has volunteered locally as a board member in the school’s chapter of Doctors of the World, helping to organize a Ukraine Drive, which resulted in the donation of thousands of pairs of gloves, bandages and other medical supplies.
