“His attitude and determination make him unique.Komla really is an outstanding young man. I was blessed to have him on my team. His attitude and determination make him unique. I have been coaching for over 30 years and he has to rank among the top five that ever played for me. I first met him when he was signing in at Hope HS. He was with his dad and his guidance counselor introduced me to him as Fabrece, and he was a soccer player. I asked him what position he played and he shyly replied forward. I then asked him if he knew how to score goals and again with a soft voice he said, "Yes." I walked away saying to myself, "Here is another kid who thinks that he can play." During the next few days I was looking for Fabrece to give him the paperwork needed to play. Nobody seemed to know what I was talking about because nobody by that name could be found. I almost gave up on him. I then said let me ask his counselor if he had sign out or what happened to him. His counselor told me that Fabrece was his nickname and that his real name was Komla. Well...I found him and he showed up the next day with all his paperwork in order and the rest is history. He proved to be a scoring machine and more than that a great kid who always smiles and works very hard on the field, in the classroom and in the community.”
