The 5-foot-10 junior outside hitter led the Yellow Jackets to a 46-7 record and the Class 7A state championship this past season. McQuirter amassed 516 kills, 292 digs, 89 blocks and 58 service aces. The Al.com Super All-State Player of the Year, she was MVP of the Class 7A state tournament.
McQuirter has maintained a 3.75 GPA in the classroom. She will begin her senior year of high school this fall.
A member of her school’s Ambassador program, McQuirter has volunteered locally on behalf of Ronald McDonald House charities and youth volleyball camps. “Kenya McQuirter has a great all-around skill set, mentally and physically,” said Lacey Powell, head coach at Fairhope High. “We couldn’t stop her. If we moved the block, she adjusted or just outjumped us and hit over the block. She never gets frustrated and she never shows an emotional change. She’s always there to make sure her team is better.”
