“Burke can dominate a game in many ways. He’s the best hitter on his team and in our league. He runs the bases with speed and instincts. Burke controls the game with his catching skills, blocking balls to not give up extra bases, and he throws extremely well from behind the plate. He’s done all of this in the Western Dakota Association since he was an eighth grader.”

Athletic Excellence

At the time of his selection, the 5-foot-11, 185-pound senior catcher and outfielder had led the Magicians to a 21-7 record and a berth in the Class A state tournament. Burke batted .557 with three home runs, 27 RBI and 33 runs scored, posting a .674 on-base percentage, 1.057 slugging percentage and 1.731 OPS through 25 games. He also recorded 10 stolen bases and threw out nearly 54 percent of would-be base-stealers from behind the plate. A two-time All-State selection, he’s ranked as the No. 7 overall prospect in the Dakotas in the Class of 2025 Prep Baseball. He was also named MVP of the 2023 Class A state championship football game.
