The 5-foot-7 senior catcher and left-handed pitcher led the Redskins (36-1) to the Class AAA state championship this past season. Adams compiled a 12-0 record and a 1.91 ERA in the circle to go with a .571 batting average, 20 doubles, seven home runs and 62 RBI. A First Team All-State honoree, she was also the Kanawha Valley Player of the Year and earned state Player of the Year honors from the West Virginia Sports Writers Association.
Adams has maintained a 3.91 GPA in the classroom. She has signed a National Letter of Intent to play softball on scholarship at Marshall University this fall.
A member of her school's student council, Adams has volunteered locally on behalf of youth sports programs, a community clean-up initiative and clothing drives. "Katie Adams is a lethal weapon," said Tommy Barrett, head coach at Lincoln County High. "She's got great bat control, a lot of power and she doesn't strike out. She can also catch, pitch and play first base. Marshall is getting a great player with her."
