The 5-foot-10 junior right-handed pitcher led the Knights to a 27-0 record and both the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference and the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division I state titles this past season. Sandercock posted a 26-0 mark in the circle with a 0.09 earned run average and 330 strikeouts in 151 innings pitched, allowing 35 hits and 19 walks. At the plate, she batted .471 with 10 doubles, eight home runs, seven triples and 57 RBI. A member of the USA Softball Junior Women's National Team, she finished the 2017 prep campaign with a .505 on-base percentage and a 1.023 slugging percentage.
Sandercock has maintained a 3.76 GPA in the classroom. She has made a verbal commitment to play softball on scholarship at James Madison University beginning in the fall of 2018.
Sandercock has volunteered locally at an elder-care facility and as a youth softball coach. "Kathryn Sandercock is the real deal-a dangerous hitter as well as a dominating pitcher," said Rita Horning Rahl, head coach of Elizabeth Seton High. "The improvement with her mechanics from last year to this year was remarkable. As if she wasn't tough enough to hit last year, this year she really mixed speed and worked the ball around all four quadrants of the strike zone."
