The 5-foot-9 senior right-handed pitcher and first baseman led the Firebirds to a 28-4 record and the Division 1 state title this past season. Mathis batted .600 with 10 home runs, 55 runs batted and 32 runs scored. She also mashed 16 doubles while posting a .673 on-base percentage and a 1.325 slugging percentage. Ranked as the nation’s No. 19 recruit in the Class of 2022 by Extra Inning Softball, Mathis compiled a 22-3 record in the circle with a 2.05 earned run average and 189 strikeouts in 147 innings pitched. In Lakota West’s 9-2 win over Springfield High in the state title game, the 2021 Ohio High School Division 1 Player of the Year was 3-for-3 at the plate with a home run and double while tossing a five-hitter with six strikeouts.
Mathis has maintained a weighted 4.0 GPA in the classroom. She has signed a National Letter of Intent to play softball on scholarship at James Madison University this fall.
A member of the Lakota West high Student Athlete Advisory Board, Mathis has volunteered locally as a youth softball coach and mentor.
