The state’s two-time returning Gatorade Player of the Year in boys cross country, the 5-foot-7, 125-pound senior won his third-straight Class AAA state meet this past season with a time of 15:51.68, breaking the tape 28.56 seconds ahead of his next-closest competitor and leading the Hawks to the team title. Also the state’s 2020-21 Gatorade Boys Track & Field Player of the Year, Edwards won all five races he entered this season and ran a season-best 15:04.7 at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational in Pennsylvania. He concluded the 2021 campaign ranked No. 19 in the country in the MileSplit50.
Edwards has maintained a weighted 4.02 GPA in the classroom. He has signed a National Letter of Intent to run on scholarship at the University of Oregon this fall.
Edwards has volunteered locally with the Special Olympics and as a youth running coach.
