The 6-foot-3, 210-pound senior outfielder had led the Bruins to a 23-11 record with the state tournament slated to begin June 8 at the time of his selection. Adell batted .554 with 24 home runs, 60 RBI and a 1.434 slugging percentage through 34 games. Ranked as the nation's No. 2 recruit in the Class of 2017 by Perfect Game and No. 8 by Baseball America, he was the 2016 Area Code Games Home Run Derby Champion.
Adell has maintained a B average in the classroom. He has signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball on scholarship at the University of Louisville this fall, but is projected as an early round selection in June's Major League Baseball draft.
Adell has volunteered locally on behalf of youth baseball programs. "Jo Adell is an incredible athlete," said Ballard High head coach David Trager. "He brings so much to the table with his skill set but also is one of our best leaders. He has been everything that you could ask for in a senior and as a leader."
