The 6-foot-1, 155-pound junior forward scored 35 goals and passed for 22 assists this past season, leading the Cougars (18-4-1) to the Class 4A state championship match. Lynam tallied eight goals and four assists in Coronado's five-game postseason run to the title game. The Southeast League Offensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-State selection, he concluded his junior year with 54 goals and 34 assists in his prep soccer career.
Lynam has maintained a weighted 3.08 GPA in the classroom and represents one of the state's top academic candidates in meeting the Gatorade award's broad criteria. He will begin his senior year of high school this fall.
Lynam has volunteered locally as a youth soccer coach. "Josh Lynam had a great season," said Andrew Risheg, head coach of Foothill High. "He is very quick with the ball and a very skilled player. He is deceptively fast and it is very easy for defenders to lose track of him."
