The 5-foot-8 junior right-handed pitcher had led the Bulldogs to a 14-3 record and a berth in the Class A state tournament at the time of her selection. Brown posted a 9-1 record in the circle with a 1.66 ERA and 101 strikeouts in 72 innings through 17 games. A 2016 All-State Honorable Mention selection, she also batted .465 with 10 RBI, a .628 slugging percentage and a .549 on-base percentage.
Brown has maintained a 102.2 average in the classroom. She will begin her senior year of high school this this fall.
An accomplished pianist, Brown is member of the National Honor Society, the Girl Scouts of America and the Math Club. "Jessica Brown is an extremely coachable player," said Portland High head coach Robert Ferrant. "She is the first to arrive at practice and the last one to leave. In the circle, she is clutch in critical situations and relishes the position. She is the one we want up to bat or in the circle when the game is one the line."
