Athletic Excellence

The state’s returning Gatorade Player of the Year, the 6-foot-3, 230-pound senior won national championships in the hammer and discus throws at the Nike Outdoor Nationals this past season. Less than a week later, Nubbe took bronze in the hammer and fourth in the discus at the USATF Under-20 National Championships. Nubbe’s personal-best hammer throw of 245 feet, 5 inches at the Evergreen Hammer Meet ranked No. 2 nationally among prep competitors in 2022 at the time of his selection as well as No. 8 in high school history. His personal-best discus effort of 207-4 ranked No. 3 in the country this spring. He also won the discus and hammer and took second in the javelin at the Class 2B state meet, leading the Mountaineers to the team title.
