The 6-foot-4, 160-pound senior won the state meet this past season with a time of 16:00.93, breaking the tape 4.93 seconds ahead of his next-closest competitor and leading the Avengers to a third-place finish as a team. Pedersen, who was a junior varsity runner a year ago, won five of eight races on the season, including the Class C Championships.
Pedersen has maintained a weighted 4.05 GPA in the classroom. He remains undecided upon a collegiate destination.
The founder and leader of East Greenwich’s 3D Animation Club, Pedersen has volunteered locally cleaning and washing the town’s fire trucks. He has also donated his time at Forgotten Ones, a non-profit thrift store.
