The 5-foot-11, 130-pound senior won his second straight PIAA Class 1A state meet this past season with an all-divisions best time of 15:52.0, breaking the tape 27 seconds ahead of his next-closest competitor and leading the Warriors to seventh place as a team. Schoedel took third at the NXX Northeast Regional championships—the state’s top finisher at the event—and earned First Team All-Region honors to advance to the national NXN Final, where he placed 66th. He clocked a 5K personal-best of 15:33.0 in winning at the District 7 WPIAL Championships. He was unbeaten by an in-state competitor through NXN regionals.
Schoedel has maintained a weighted 4.23 GPA in the classroom. He has signed a written letter of athletic aid to run at Penn State University this fall.
A member of the National Honor Society, Schoedel has volunteered locally as a summer counselor for the Vacation Bible School at Bethel Church. He has also donated his time to the Mohawk Health Careers Club by organizing an annual blood-donation drive and to Club Hope for Mohawk, participating in an easter egg hunt program for elementary school students.
