The 6-foot-10, 195-pound junior forward led the Gaels to a 35-3 record and the Baltimore Catholic League title this past season. Smith averaged 17 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots per game while shooting 64 percent from inside the arc. Also the Baltimore Catholic League MVP, he is ranked as the nation's No. 20 recruit in the Class of 2018 by 247Sports.
Smith has maintained a 3.34 GPA in the classroom. He will begin his senior year of high school this fall.
Smith has volunteered locally as an elementary school tutor, a mentor for students with special needs and as a youth basketball coach. "Jalen Smith is the total package," said Mount St. Joseph High head coach Pat Clatchey. "He is an honor roll student who realizes the value and importance of his education. As a player, he impacts the game on both ends of the court. His level of consistency has been outstanding."
