The 6-foot-4, 180-pound senior guard averaged 26.8 points, 5.4 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game while shooting 83 percent from the line this past season, leading the War Eagles (15-7) to the Class 2A semifinals. A 2017 Jordan Brand Classic game invitee, Felton was named the Class 2A Player of the Year by the South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association. He is ranked as the nation's No. 24 recruit in the Class of 2017 by ESPN.
Felton has maintained a B average in the classroom and represents one of the state's top academic candidates in meeting the Gatorade award's broad criteria. He has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball on scholarship at the University of North Carolina this fall.
Felton has volunteered locally as a motivational speaker for underprivileged youth and as a youth basketball coach. "Jalek Felton is an outstanding athlete and basketball player," said Andrew Peckham, head coach at Fox Creek High. "He does not have many weaknesses to his game. Against us, his ability to score on the perimeter and inside the paint along with his defense was tremendous. We really did not have any answers for him."
