The 6-foot-8, 215-pound senior forward led the Irish to a 23-8 record this past season. The state’s two-time returning Gatorade Player of the Year, Brakefield averaged 19.2 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. The MVP of the ARS/Rescue Rooter National Hoopfest in Tampa, Brakefield will participate in this spring’s Jordan Brand Classic. He is ranked as the nation’s No. 24 recruit in the Class of 2020 by ESPN.
Brakefield has maintained a 3.25 GPA in the classroom. He has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball on scholarship at Duke University this fall.
A member of his church youth group, Brakefield has served Thanksgiving dinners to needy families and has volunteered locally on behalf of an animal shelter as well as youth basketball camps.
