The 5-foot-9, 140-pound senior set a meet record in the 800-meter run and took third in the 1600-meter run at the District of Columbia State Athletic Association championships, leading the Tigers to their second straight title. Frumkin’s District-best 1:53.90 at the DMV Meet of Champions helped set the stage for this month’s New Balance Outdoor Nationals, where he took seventh in the 800 (1:55.36). He also ran a personal-best 4:27.99 in the 1600 at the Draper Invitational. In the course of his prep career, Frumkin was a six-time DCSAA individual champion, winning three titles apiece in both the 800 and 1600.
Frumkin has maintained an unweighted 4.35 GPA in the classroom and represents one of the District of Columbia’s top academic candidates in meeting the Gatorade award’s broad criteria. He will attend Johns Hopkins University, where he will run track, this fall.
Frumkin has donated his time to international health and human services, packing and distributing food and equipment and providing coaching clinics on trips to Israel and the Dominican Republic. A peer tutor and peer mentor, he is the founder and president of Wilson Live, a student-run live streaming service, as well as the sports editor and content editor for his school newspaper.
