The 5-foot-8 sophomore won the Division 1 state meet this past season with a time of 19:19.82, breaking the tape almost seven seconds ahead of her next-closest competitor and leading the Mustangs to the team title. In her first year as a varsity competitor, Shaha won the Cook Inlet Conference Region IV Meet and took 14th in the Open Division race at the Nike Cross Northwest Regional Championships.
Shaha has maintained a 4.0 GPA in the classroom. She will begin her junior year of high school this fall.
A violinist in the Chugiak Symphonic Orchestra, Shaha has volunteered locally with her school’s T.E.A. club, which promotes recycling and caring for the environment. She has also donated her time to multiple community service initiatives through her church.
