At the time of his selection, the 5-foot-10, 175-pound senior outfielder and left-handed pitcher had led the top-seeded Hawks (23-1) to an opening-round victory in the Division 1 state tournament. Crain compiled a record of 6-0 with a 1.24 ERA, 42 strikeouts and a 0.82 WHIP in 39.2 innings pitched through 23 games. He entered the tournament batting .512 with 14 RBI and 19 walks, boasting an on-base percentage of .662.
Crain has maintained a 3.86 GPA in the classroom. He has signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball on scholarship at the University of Louisville this fall.
Crain has volunteered locally on behalf of the Special Olympics and a Thanksgiving turkey drive. He’s also donated his time as a peer math tutor and youth baseball coach.
