The 6-foot-4, 309-pound senior won the shot put at the Class AAA state meet this past season, leading the Knights to a third-place finish as a team. Beverage launched the shot a personal-best 65 feet, 10.5 inches to break a 35-year-old state record held by future Olympian Randy Barnes. The throw ranked No. 7 in the nation among prep competitors in 2019 at the time of his selection. He earned All-American honors by finishing fifth in the shot at this month’s New Balance Nationals Outdoor.
Beverage has maintained a weighted 4.54 GPA in the classroom. He has signed a national letter of intent to compete on an athletic scholarship at the University of California, Riverside beginning this fall.
A member of the Cabell Midland Marching Band, Beverage has volunteered locally as a youth track official. He has also donated his time to multiple community service initiatives on behalf of his temple youth group.
