The 5-foot-10, 119-pound junior won the KSHSAA 5A State Championships with a time of 15:38.02, leading the Saints to the program’s second consecutive state championship as a team. An All-State selection, Marshall also took 10th to earn Second Team All-Region honors at the NXN Heartland Regional championships, clocking the fastest 5K in the state (15:16.80) among prep runners in 2017 to become the top Kansas finisher in the race.
Marshall has maintained a 3.89 GPA in the classroom. He will begin his senior year of high school this fall.
Marshall has volunteered locally on behalf of Catholic Charities, the Penn House center for the needy, Turnstyles, Harvesters and the Lakeview Retirement Village. A nominated attendee of the Rotary Youth Leadership Award Camp at the University of Kansas, he has also donated his time as a soccer and cross country camp volunteer, in addition to serving as a mentor to incoming freshman at his school.
