The 5-foot-6 senior won the 3,000-meter run and finished second in the 1,500-meter run at the Division I state meet this past season, leading the Redhawks to a second-place finish as a team. A three-time state champion in the 3,000, Whitman ran her career-best time of 10.16.48 at a meet in early May, a clocking which ranked No. 84 in the nation among prep competitors at the time of her selection.
Whitman has maintained a 3.94 GPA in the classroom. She has signed a national letter of intent to compete on an athletic scholarship at Boston College beginning this fall.
The chairperson of CVU’s Athletic Leadership Council, Whitman has volunteered locally at the University of Vermont Medical Center’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Center. She has also donated her time as a youth track coach and as part of multiple community service initiatives through her church.
