The 6-foot-4, 180-pound senior won the high jump and long jump for a second straight year at the Class 6A state meet this past season, leading the Thunder to an eighth-place finish as a team. Gerald also took second at the state meet in the 110-meter high hurdles. He set a Class 6A state record in the high jump with a leap of 7 feet, 0.25 inches at the Utah County Invitational, a mark that, at the time of his selection, ranked No. 5 nationally among prep competitors in 2022. Also the Nike Indoor Nationals champion in the high jump, his season-best long jump of 23-3.5 at the Airshow Invitationals ranked No. 61 in the country.
Gerald has maintained a 3.63 GPA in the classroom. He has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete on an athletic scholarship at the University of Southern California this fall.
Gerald has volunteered locally as a llama trainer and on behalf of Lifting Hands International, providing humanitarian aid to refugees both at home and abroad. He has also donated his time as a youth sports coach and official.
