The State’s returning Gatorade Player of the Year, the 5-foot-7 junior raced to second place at the Foot Locker West Regional championship with a time of 17:58.0, which represented the best finish by a Nevada athlete at the event in 17 years. Raker also recorded a top 20 finish at the Nike Cross Nationals Southwest Region championships, clocking a personal best 17:49.82 to take 16th. She was second at the NIAA Class 5A state meet, a loss she avenged at Nike regionals.
Raker has maintained a weighted 4.70 GPA in the classroom. She will begin her senior year of high school this fall.
An accomplished piano and guitar player who participates in the school’s marching, concert and drumline bands, Raker has volunteered locally on behalf of the Special Olympics of Northern Nevada, the Food Bank of Northern Nevada and the Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful nonprofit.
