The 6-foot, 150-pound senior forward led the Tigers to a 20-3-1 record and the Conference 6A state championship this past season. Baca scored 37 goals, including the lone goal in Gilbert's 1-0 win over Tolleson High in the state title game. He also passed for 11 assists. Baca had 11 multi-goal games and scored six goals in the team's four-game postseason run to the title. He is a two-time Central Conference Player of the Year.
Baca has maintained a weighted 4.07 GPA in the classroom. He has signed a national letter of intent to play soccer on scholarship at Fort Lewis College in Colorado beginning this fall.
A member of his school's Ping Pong Club, Baca has volunteered locally at an after-school program for children and as a youth soccer coach. "Danny was on a team that needed a leader and he gave them that," said Drew Guarneri, head coach of Campo Verde High. "They won the whole thing and he was a big reason they did. He was clutch for them game after game."
