The 6-foot, 205-pound junior won the discus throw at the Class 4A state meet this past season, leading the Patriots to a ninth-place finish as a team. Moore’s top discus effort of 193 feet, 3 inches ranked No. 19 among prep competitors in 2018 at the time of his selection. He finished 10th in the discus at this month’s New Balance Nationals Outdoor and is a five-time AAU West Coast Junior Olympics champion in the event.
Moore has maintained a B average in the classroom and represents one of the state’s top academic candidates in meeting the Gatorade award’s broad criteria. He will begin his senior year of high school this fall.
Moore has volunteered locally as a mentor and instructor to young throwers at his club, Throwers’ Respect.
