At the time of his selection, the 6-foot-3, 205-pound senior first baseman, outfielder and left-handed pitcher had led the Bruins (22-5-1) to the 5A state tournament title game. Entering the state final, Larkin batted .456 with 11 home runs, 37 RBI and 27 runs scored. He was also 2-0 on the mound with a 2.41 earned run average with 31 strikeouts in 20.1 innings pitched.
Larkin has maintained a 3.46 GPA in the classroom. He has signed a written letter of athletic aid to play baseball at the University of Oklahoma this fall.
Larkin has volunteered locally with Boys Team Charity, a volunteer organization dedicated to developing an altruistic spirit in young men through active participation of parents and sons in philanthropic projects in their communities. He has also donated his time as an assistant coach of the Creek Bruins Black U9 baseball team in Centennial, Colorado.
