The state's returning Gatorade Player of the Year, the 6-foot-1, 175-pound senior guard led the Raptors to a 24-4 record and the Class 5A state championship this past season. Ross averaged 18.4 points, 5.0 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game. A two-time Centennial League Player of the Year, he was a First Team All-State selection as a junior.
Ross has maintained a weighted 3.51 GPA in the classroom. He has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball on scholarship at Pepperdine University beginning this fall.
Ross has volunteered locally as part of a fundraising campaign to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation and as a youth basketball coach. "Colbey plays hard and has a high basketball IQ," said Morgan Gregory, head coach of Cherokee Trail High. "He understands the flow of the game and when he needs to be aggressive for his team, along with knowing when to get others involved."
