The 5-foot-2 sophomore raced to the national title at the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships this past season, breaking the tape in 17:04.81. Lane also won the Division 4 individual state championship with a time of 16:45. She finished first at the Foot Locker West Regional championships in 17:20.1 and earned victories at the Seaside Invitational, the Mt. SAC Invitational, the Ventura County championships and the Southern Section championships.
Lane has maintained a 4.0 GPA in the classroom. She will begin her junior year of high school this fall.
Lane has volunteered locally on behalf of the National Charity League, Upward Bound House and the Fauna Foundation, and she founded the Every Elephant Matters club at her school. "I've never coached an athlete with such a strong combination of natural skill, work ethic and personal grit," said Malibu coach Mark Larsen. "She's always pushing herself to be better and faster."
