“Claire is the most committed athlete I’ve ever been around. I’ve never been around another athlete who has the work ethic, dedication and commitment to excellence that she does. One of her best attributes is that she’s also a passionate supporter of her teammates. She’s always very encouraging as she watches and hears about their performances.”

Athletic Excellence

The 5-foot-8 junior pole-vaulter and hurdler earned All-American honors with a second-place in the pole vault at the Nike Outdoor Nationals earlier this month, clearing 13 feet, 4.5 inches. Wetick also won  the event at the Division 2 Class AA state championship meet with a personal-best height of 13-8, which ranked No. 7 nationally among prep girls competitors this spring. She also took second at states in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.75 seconds—another PR—and third in the 300 hurdles in a personal-best tie of 44.8.

Academic Achievement

Wetick has maintained a 4.82 weighted GPA in the classroom. She will begin her senior year of high school this fall.

Exemplary Character

The Business Manager of the St. Agnes Student Government Association, Wetick has volunteered locally leading a schoolwide recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month last October. She has also donated her time as a Freshman Student Orientation leader and as a peer mentor, helping to organize the two-day event for incoming freshmen.
