The 5-foot-4 senior won Class 4A state titles in the 100- and 300-meter hurdles as well as the 100 dash this past season, helping the Grizzlies capture the state team championship. Petersen set a state 100-meter record at the Class 4A District Championships with a wind-legal clocking of 11.83 seconds. She ripped off a personal-best 43.06 in the 300 hurdles at the state final, which ranks among the nation’s top 70 girls prep competitors in 2023.
Petersen has maintained a 3.88 GPA in the classroom. She has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete on scholarship at Utah State this fall.
Petersen is a member of the Captain’s Club, a leadership group selected by her school’s teachers and coaches, through which exemplary student-athletes promote sportsmanship and positive behavior around campus. She has also served as a youth track coach and mentor, and has volunteered locally at a flower farm. Petersen is a devoted parishioner at her church, where she participates weekly in gospel study classes and engages in service activities with youth groups.
