The 6-foot-1, 205-pound senior right-handed pitcher and infielder compiled a 5-1 record on the mound with a 1.15 ERA and 99 strikeouts in 48.2 innings pitched, leading the Mustangs to a 23-4 record and a berth in the South Jersey Group III championship game. The nation’s No. 6 draft prospect as ranked by Perfect Game, Petty also posted a .367 batting average with four home runs, 32 RBI, 28 runs scored 12 stolen bases and an OPS of 1.149.
Petty has maintained a 3.04 GPA in the classroom. He has signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball on scholarship at the University of Florida this fall, but is projected as an early round selection in July’s Major League Baseball draft.
Petty has volunteered locally on behalf of the American Cancer Society and as a youth baseball coach.
