The 6-foot-1, 130-pound senior won the Class AA state meet this past season with a meet-record time of 14:40.74, breaking the tape 19.29 seconds ahead of his next-closest competitor and leading the Hawks to their ninth consecutive state title as a team. Equall took 26th at the Nike Cross Nationals Final as Bozeman won the team national championship. He also finished second at the NXN Northwest Regional championships and was unbeaten against in-state competition in 2016.
Equall has maintained a weighted 4.26 GPA in the classroom and ranks No. 1 in his class. He has signed a National Letter of Intent to run cross country on scholarship at the University of Washington this fall.
Equall has volunteered locally at the Bozeman Marathon and on behalf of an area food bank. "The leadership that Chase showed this season and the way he brought this team together is nothing short of amazing," said Casey Jermyn, head coach of Bozeman High. "Chase set many examples for the younger runners and taught them the value and honor it is to run for Bozeman cross country."
