Charlotte Bednar Gatorade 2020 - 2021: Player of the Year Girls Cross Country

“Charlotte has grown so much as an athlete in the past year. Like all kids her age, she was unable to compete in the spring due to COVID. But instead of letting that stop her, she kept her head down and trained steadily over the spring and into the summer. When she had an opportunity to race this fall, she didn’t waste it.”

Athletic Excellence

The 5-foot-6 junior won the Holmdel Invitational this past season with a time of 17:21, the fastest clocking ever by a New Jersey high school runner on the historic course. The state’s returning Gatorade Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year, Bednar took second at the East Coast Championships in 17:46.7.

Academic Achievement

Bednar has maintained a B average in the classroom. She will begin her senior year of high school this fall.

Exemplary Character

A talented pianist, Bednar has participated in Swim Across America and has volunteered locally on behalf of a soup kitchen, clothing drives and Ronald McDonald House Charities.
