The state’s reigning Gatorade Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year, the 5-foot-10, 137-pound junior swept the 800-, 1600- and 3200-meter run at the Class 7A state meet this past season, leading the Bulldogs to a third-place finish as a team. In addition, Fischer captured the 3200 at the Arkansas Meet of Champions in 9:18.35, the state’s best time this spring. He also produced the state’s best times in the 800 (1:55.06, set at the 7A West Conference Meet) and the 1600 (4:20.03, set at the Texas Relays). Fischer won the Festival of Miles in May, clocking a 4:13.03, which ranked No. 41 in the country at the time of his selection. His time of 15:31.66 in the 5K at the Texas Distance Festival was good for No. 61 in the country.
Fischer has maintained an unweighted 3.87 GPA in the classroom. He will begin his senior year of high school this fall.
Fischer has donated his time to multiple community-oriented activities through his church, including participating in a service-mission trip to Puebla, Mexico. He has also volunteered locally with the Dawg Crew, performing community and school service projects, and he has mentored students at Owl Creek Middle School.
