“For the past 15 years as track coaches at Fayetteville High, our staff has been blessed with some great athletes, but Camren separates himself by what he is accomplishing on the track, in school and for the community. This award sums up what he is all about and has displayed since day one. He is more than a great athlete, and that is why he is deserving.”

Athletic Excellence

The state’s reigning Gatorade Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year, the 5-foot-10, 137-pound junior swept the 800-, 1600- and 3200-meter run at the Class 7A state meet this past season, leading the Bulldogs to a third-place finish as a team. In addition, Fischer captured the 3200 at the Arkansas Meet of Champions in 9:18.35, the state’s best time this spring. He also produced the state’s best times in the 800 (1:55.06, set at the 7A West Conference Meet) and the 1600 (4:20.03, set at the Texas Relays). Fischer won the Festival of Miles in May, clocking a 4:13.03, which ranked No. 41 in the country at the time of his selection. His time of 15:31.66 in the 5K at the Texas Distance Festival was good for No. 61 in the country.
