The 5-foot-11 senior right-handed pitcher and outfielder led the Dons to a 30-3-1 record and a third straight Class 4A state championship this past season. Hazel posted a 24-0 record with a 1.25 earned run average, recording 221 strikeouts in 140.1 innings pitched. At the plate, Hazel batted .439 with six home runs, 26 runs scored and a .673 slugging percentage. She is a two-time Salt Lake Tribune All-State selection and was the 2016 Deseret News Class 4A MVP.
Hazel has maintained a 3.82 GPA in the classroom. She has signed a national letter of intent to play softball on scholarship at Dixie State University beginning this fall.
Hazel has volunteered locally as a peer tutor in her school's special education classes and as a youth softball coach. "Cambrie's stats are indicative of her impact on each game that she plays," said Jill Thackeray, head coach of Springville High. "Cambrie is a game-changer. She is focused and determined and is an incredible athlete."
