The 6-foot-2, 160-pound junior defender led the Beavers to a 18-1-1 record and the Class 6A state championship this past season. Spear scored six goals and anchored a defense that only surrendered only 9 while recording 13 shutouts. Spear scored the equalizer in the state championship game to force overtime and converted the game-winning penalty in extra time. The Oregon High School Coaches Association’s Player of the Year, he was a TopDrawerSoccer First Team Best XI selection.
Spear has maintained a 4.06 weighted GPA in the classroom. He will begin his senior year of high school next fall.
Spear has volunteered as a camp counselor and coordinator on behalf of his high school’s summer basketball programs. He has also donated his time to multiple community service initiatives, including Jam the Dam, which is a school-wide fundraiser for Make-A-Wish Oregon.
