The returning Gatorade State Runner of the Year, the 5-foot-6, 135-pound junior finished third at the Nike Cross Nationals Final this past season with a time of 15:37.1 to earn First Team All-American honors. Hasty also won his second-straight Class AAA state meet title in 15:09.07, leading the Bruins to a first-place finish as a team, and he broke the tape at the NXN Southeast Regional championships nearly 10 seconds ahead of his next-closest competitor. In addition, Hasty topped the field at the Great American Cross Country Festival in a course-record time of 14:32.20, the fastest 5K time in the country this fall amongst prep competitors.
Hasty has maintained a weighted 3.17 GPA in the classroom. He will begin his senior year of high school this fall.
A member of Brentwood's chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Hasty has volunteered locally as a peer tutor and as a youth running coach. "Brodey has become the pride of Tennessee high school distance runners," said Lance Winders, head coach of Henry County High. "During the race he's the most fierce runner I've ever seen. Afterwards he's just another kid on the team."
