The 6-foot-5, 200-pound senior forward had averaged 28.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.6 steals, leading the Blue Jays (20-4) to the Class A state quarterfinals at the time of his selection. Before suffering a spiral fracture to his right pinky in a late-February practice, Skunberg became Jamestown’s leading career scorer (1,732 points) and rebounder (622). The 2020 Western Dakota Association Senior Athlete of the Year and a four-year varsity starter, he was a First-Team All-State selection in 2019 while leading the Blue Jays to a 27-0 record and a Class A state title.
Skunberg has maintained a 3.5 GPA in the classroom. He has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball on scholarship at North Dakota State University this fall.
Skunberg has volunteered locally with Meals on Wheels and a Special Olympics adult basketball team. He has also donated his time on behalf of the Immanuel Lutheran Church as well as to local food banks.
